About Us
Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU) is a non-profit rescue and rehabilitation organization based in Badi Village, Liyo Ka Gurha, near Badi TB Hospital, Udaipur, Rajasthan 313011, India.
Founded in 2002 by Jim, Erika, and Claire Abrams, Animal Aid Unlimited is a leading street animal rescue center in India. Our hospital and sanctuary are home to more than 4,500 rescued and recovering animals each year.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to rescue and treat the suffering animals of India’s streets, and inspire a spirit of compassion among people.

What We Do?
We rescue street animals, provide medical care and sanctuary, and help turn community compassion into action. We combine on-the-ground, immediate relief to suffering animals with prevention to ensure long-term protection for animals.

- Rescue: When someone in Udaipur spots an injured or ill animal, they can call our Emergency Helpline to report the condition. The number of caring people contacting us to help an animal has grown continuously, with an average of 70 animals reported to us each day, and spikes of up to 100 calls.
- Hospital and Medical Treatment: Our hospital provides medical treatment, loving care and a safe place for animals to recover. We treat about 450 animals of various species in our hospital each day: from road accident injuries, to skin diseases and wounds.
- Animal Birth Control:We spay and neuter every rescued dog who is fit for surgery before returning them to their neighborhoods and all of our rescues are vaccinated against rabies on admission.Additionally, we conduct a city wide Animal Birth Control (ABC) program, in collaboration with the Municipality of Udaipur. CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) is the only humane and sustainable solution to control dog population and eliminate rabies.
- Sanctuary: Our sanctuary is home to 200 animals of many species. We rescued each one from great hardship and today they are a source of inspiration for happiness and love.
- Outreach and education: Recognizing animals who need help is something that can be learned, and when people are equipped with the knowledge of how to help they are more likely to act. We are teaching people to take action, whether by calling our rescue line or by taking our training course in First Aid; whether by making compassionate food choices or by volunteering.
- Crueltyresponse: On a weekly and sometimes daily basis, we receive calls on our helpline informing us about an animal being intentionally mistreated or even killed. Our Cruelty Response team immediately investigates every cruelty report we receive with our first action being to take any animal out of immediate harm’s way. If a law has been violated, we report it to the police.
Why We Do This?
From the very beginning, our founding team could not foresee the breadth of suffering faced by street animals. As our rescue work expanded, requests for help escalated—from a few per week to dozens or even hundreds per day. We realized this was not a matter of isolated emergencies, but a systemic challenge.
We believe all animals deserve compassion and protection—dogs, cows, donkeys, cats, birds, even fish. Each is a sentient being with dignity, capable of pain and deserving of respect. This belief fuels every rescue we perform.

Why We Rely on Crowdfunding?
As a non-profit rescue and rehabilitation organization, we rely on fundraising because animal rescue in India is a long-term, high-cost commitment that cannot survive without collective compassion.
Every single day, Animal Aid Unlimited responds to many rescue calls — including severe trauma, fractures, infections, burns, and accident injuries.
Each of these rescues requires medicine, surgeries, skilled veterinary staff, transport, and weeks or months of rehabilitation care.
Unfortunately, India’s animal welfare system remains underdeveloped.
Street animals have no owners, no legal protection, and no consistent government funding.
That’s why 100% of our rescue, medical, food, education, and shelter expenses are funded by donations from people like you.
Our crowdfunding efforts are not only about raising money — they are about raising awareness, empathy, and global solidarity.
Every contribution, no matter how small, changes lives.
